Based on a report from the German Federal Agency for Consumer Protection, the German Television news magazine Tagesschau stated that the number of recalls of food products in Germany has steadily increased over recent years.
Until November this year, a total of 183 products were recalled, almost as many as in the 12 months of the previous year. The number of recalls expected for this year has almost doubled since 2015.
Recalls per Year
Sausages processed meat products have seen the large number of recalls this year, followed by milk and milk products.
Products Recalled
The majority of recalls was due to microbial contamination followed by foreign bodies.
